Short Briefing
Parang Mountains are located in the Eastern Carpathians, in the so called Southern Romanian Carpathians, in the center-south-west part of Romania, at about 15 km North-East of Targu-Jiu city and 5 km South-East of Petrosani. The mountains are delimited at the East by the famous Transalpina road (DN67C, the Novaci-Obarsia Lotrului section). The heighest peak of the masiff is Parangu Mare (alt. 2519m).

By road:
-> Targu-Jiu -> (DN67) -> Scoarta -> (DN67) Bengesti -> (DN67C) Novaci (45km)
-> Ramnicu Valcea -> (DN67) -> Horezu -> (DN67) -> Novaci (83km)

Track Description
This is the easiest track from the ones I presented at the "see also" section. But this dues to the fact the track starts at an altitude of aprox 1970m, follows a route to Papusa Peak (2136m), then Cioara Peak (2123m), then passes to the view of Singuratec Lake and returns to the start point. The heightest of the track point is 2150m. The first half of the track follows the red band marker and before the Galbenul Peak (2137m) you will turn left to see the Singuratec Lake, then return to start point on the same track. The total length of track is 8.5km which can be walked in max. 3 hours:
