Italia - Cortina d'Ampezzo

According to Wiki, Cortina d'Ampezzo is a winter resort in the southern Alps (the Dolomites) located in Veneto, a region in Northern Italy. Among the Dolomiti famous mountains that surrounds Cortina, we may enumerate: Tofane to the west, Pomagagnon to the north, Cristallo to the northeast, Faloria and Socrepes to the east, and Becco di Mezzodì, Croda da Lago and Cinque Torri to south. After the scheduled 1944 Olympics had been cancelled because of WW2, Cortina hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics, as well as various world cup events and motion pictures. Much of 1963 classic The Pink Panther was filmed here. One of the memorable James Bond stunt sequences in 1981's For Your Eyes Only, was filmed on its slopes, as were several scenes from Cliffhanger.
There are several ways of access, majority by motorways, starting from:
- Italia: Padua, Venice, Udine, Trieste, via Belluno;
- Austria: Innsbruck, Lienz;
In August 2009, the Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We arrived to Cortina and accomodated at the Dolomiti Camping, with the intention to follow some hiking trails:
- Cortina - Faloria - Sorapis - Tre Croci, 1-day Track;
- Cortina - Falzarego - Lagazuoi, 1-day Track (part one);
- Lagazuoi - Giussani - Dibona, 1-day Track (part two)
